Dear Friends of Stroud Choral Society,
Thank you for your continuing suppport of our choir.
Stroud Choral Society will be performing Edward Elgar's Dream of Gerontius on Saturday 15th November at 7.30pm in Tewkesbury Abbey. We will be led by Simon Bell and joined by the Bristol Ensemble and three soloists, Victoria Simmonds, Ed Lyon and Darren Jeffrey.
The piece has as its origin a poem by John Henry Newman and was set to music as an oratorio by Edward Elgar in 1900. The oratorio follows pious Gerontius as he approaches and passes through the gate of death, guided by his Guardian Angel, and on his moving and often dramatic journey through purgatory on his way to heaven.
We do hope that you will be able to join us for this wonderful event.
